Our Bureau

Chennai, June 29

A delegation of senior executives from the Tata group on Thursday held discussions with the Tamil Nadu Government officials on investment opportunities for the group in the State.

Mr R.K. Krishna Kumar, Director, Tata Sons, and a member of the Group Corporate Centre, which charts strategy and direction for the group, led the delegation.

The Tata group is reportedly interested in investing in desalination projects, integrated townships and a heavy vehicle centre. The Tamil Nadu Government officials explained the opportunities available and the facilities provided by the Government.

On Wednesday, the Union Communications and IT Minister, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, during his meeting with the Tata group Chairman, Mr Ratan Tata, in Delhi, had asked Mr Tata to examine investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu. Mr Tata responded favourably and assured the Minister that a delegation from the group would visit the State to study the options available.

Earlier, Tata Steel has signed an agreement with the State Government for a titanium di-oxide project near Tuticorin.
