Tourism `Make things easy for tourists to visit India' Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 1 The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Ms Ambika Soni, has called for better coordination between the Ministries of External Affairs, Home Affairs and Civil Aviation so as to make it easier for foreign tourists to visit India. Inaugurating a two-day meet on Overseas Marketing of Indian Tourism here, the Minister said India might have to open some more overseas tourist offices or relocate some of the existing offices in view of the emerging tourism trends. A number of promotional films produced by various agencies on different aspects of Indian culture and tourism such as Heritage India, Contemporary India, India as a Golfing Destination and India as an Ayurvedic Destination were also released at the function. Addressing the meeting, the Secretary, Tourism, Mr Ashok Kumar Mishra, said the Ministry proposed to increase the allocation under market development assistance scheme so as to enable a larger number of domestic tour operators and hoteliers to take part in travel marts, road shows abroad. This, he hoped would help the country realise the goal of achieving an overall growth of 25 per cent in the tourism sector.
