ED denies Natwar son's charges

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 1

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has categorically denied allegations made in a TV channel interview by Mr Jagat Singh, son of former external affairs minister, Mr Natwar Singh, about the manner in which the investigations have been conducted into the Volcker Committee's report on the Oil-for-Food Programme. An official release said the ED normally does not respond to such media reports. However, in this case, since the allegations have been made earlier and repeated again, the ED has denied the allegations and categorically stated that all investigations in this matter have been conducted strictly in accordance with the law, uninfluenced by any person or any extraneous factors.
