New Projects Bayer to house polyurethane unit in Noida Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 1 In line with its expansion plans in the Asia-Pacific region, Bayer Material Private Sciences Pvt Ltd on Friday announced the launch of its polyurethane manufacturing unit and systems house at Greater Noida, near Delhi. The Indian operation of the company will be branded, BaySystems India, after its global polyurethane systems units' operations that are branded BaySystems. According Mr Stephen Gerlich, Managing Director, Country Group Head, the Indian operation would be functional by early 2007.
Quality standard
He said, "With BaySystems India, we are creating a global customer service quality standard for our systems house customers. At the same time, the new brand strengthens our worldwide systems house network.'' Currently, the polyurethane team in India is in place to take care of customers' needs for application development and product delivery through the company's application laboratory in Noida, which has the capacity to test applications and chemicals.
Polyurethane uses
Mr Ajay Durrani, Head of Business Unit, Indian Sub Continent, said, that in terms of polyurethane based products, India had a huge customer base. Among other things, polyurethane is used in making car seats, dashboards, shoe soles and in the construction industry for roof insulation. He further said that the company was closely working with the major auto companies of the country for providing inputs for two, three and four-wheeler vehicles. Mr Gerlich said that using polyurethane could also cut down on energy consumption. Asked about the investment made in the unit in Noida, he said that it was close to $10 m.
