Steel makers hike prices

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 1

The domestic steel manufacturers have increased prices of hot rolled steel by Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per tonne effective from Saturday . However, there is a difference in the price rise effected by the public sector Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and the private sector manufacturers. SAIL officials said that, "There is an increase in listed price of hot rolled coils and also there would be increase in discount. The effective net increase would be around Rs 500 per tonne." Long product prices have not been changed . The private companies too have sounded out their buyers of an increase from July 1, but the formal list would be available only on Monday, market sources said.
