Spot rubber prices unchanged

Spot rubber prices were quoted almost unchanged on Monday. The market lacked the strength to move up further in the absence of enquiries from the tyre sector. The covering groups were hesitant to enhance their quotes though there were only a few sellers in the market.

Sheet rubber closed flat at Rs 106.50 a kg at Kottayam. But it improved marginally by 25 paise to Rs 106.75 a kg at Kochi. Ungraded rubber continued to firm up on comparatively better demand from the general rubber goods sector.

Futures firm

The rubber futures stayed in tune with the positive international indices on NMCE .The July contract was quoted Rs 107.55 (Rs 107.40), August at Rs 109.20 (Rs 108.90), September at Rs 106.60 (Rs 106.07) and October contract at Rs 103.59 (Rs 102.95) per kg for RSS 4.The volumes stood at 530 tonnes till 2 p.m.

The August futures for RSS 3 closed at 316.9 Yen (Rs 127.20) a kg against 316.4 Yen at TOCOM. The grades was steady at Rs 126.42 a kg at Bangkok.
