Software Industry & Economy - SSI SMBs are goldmine, says Oracle Our Bureau
Coimbatore , July 3 Oracle India considers the mid-market segment a goldmine for its applications. The company has, through its road shows, reached 1,500 customers and tied up with 70 new partners between March and April 2006. An IDC report reveals that there are about 1.7 million SMBs or Small Office Home Office (SOHO) set-ups in the country and their IT spend is estimated at Rs 3,400 crore. Mr Anup Verma, Regional Sales Director - Mid Market Technology (Sales), Oracle, said that 70 per cent of its customers belonged to the SMB category and the growth was phenomenal. "We are not just a technology company. We offer customised solutions for different verticals. Our partners develop the solutions," he said. He conceded that the mid-market segment still had reservations about investing heavily in technological tools. "Huge capability of the application is a secondary criteria for this segment, who only look for quick returns on their investment. So, we have to develop applications to suit this group," he added. He said the SMBs could start small and add components whenever required, streamline operations and gain business intelligence, sharpen competitiveness with industry-specific functionality and slash cost to increase profitability.
