Oracle revenues in APAC, Japan grow 18 pc

Oracle Corporation has logged robust performance in the Asia Pacific and Japan with revenues of $2.02 billion for fiscal year 2006 ended May 31. The region contributed about 14 per cent of the corporation's total revenues.

This reflects an 18 per cent increase over the previous fiscal, which is backed by surge in application new licences that grew by 69 per cent, and database and middleware growing by 13 per cent.

Addressing newspersons from Singapore over a conference call, the Chairman and Executive Vice-President of Oracle Asia-Pacific and Japan, Mr Derek Williams, said "in Q4FY06 we delivered significant revenue growth across virtually all product lines and geographies. We are growing faster than the competition and rapidly winning market share."

INDIA EXPANSION

Referring to Indian operations, Mr Williams said the company continues to expand its presence in India and has about 9,500 people working across all areas of Oracle operations. Asked about plans for i-flex and its flagship FlexCube product, Mr Williams said that this was a strategic investment for Oracle and it was for the i-flex Board to chart out its strategies in the market place. Oracle has been marketing Reveleus, the Basel II product, which has received an excellent response in the market.

The company claimed that the Oracle Database has managed to outpace competition in the region and continued to lead the relational database management system (RDBMS).
