Alumni give Rs 1-crore endowment to IIMA

Virendra Pandit

Ahmedabad , July 11

In a unique gesture and as a mark of expressing gratitude to the society, a group of alumni of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), working with the US-based equity firm Warburg Pincus, has given an endowment of Rs 1 crore to provide financial assistance to the needy students of the nation's premier B-School.

Warburg Pincus is a global player with investments in about 500 companies in 30 countries. It is working in Mumbai for the last 11 years and most of the professionals managing its India operations are IIMA alumni, including one of the Managing Directors, Mr Pulak Prasad (1992 batch), the IIMA sources told Business Line on Tuesday.

"We're delighted to be associated with the IIMA. Several of the firms' partners and professionals are graduates of IIMA and now, we are proud to lend our support to the institute through an initiative that will help further the education of well-deserving, needy students," said Mr Pulak Prasad and Mr Rajesh Khanna, Managing Directors, Warburg Pincus.
