Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr Mukut Mithi, has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry, according to a communication from Rashtrapati Bhavan. Lt. Gen. (Retd) Madan Mohan Lakhera, the present Lt. Governor of Pondicherry, has been made the new Governor of Mizoram, it said adding that Gen. Lakhera will, however, continue to hold his additional charge as Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Bihar Governor, Mr R.S. Gavai has been given the additional charge of the Raj Bhavan in Sikkim, where Governor Mr V. Rama Rao is currently on leave.
