Broadband States - Andhra Pradesh AP broadband project to be ready next year Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 12 The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has promised State support for the ambitious Aksh Broaband project that seeks to take optical fibre to homes and provide broadband connectivity. The project progress, reviewed by the Chief Minister here on Wednesday, is poised for completion by March 2007. The Chief Executive Officer of Aksh Broadband, Mr V.K. Dhir, in a statement highlighted the progress and sought resolution to some pending problems. The AP Broadband project seeks to reach 100 mbps connectivity to Villages along with 10 GB connectivity to Hyderabad and other municipalities in the State aimed at providing `triple play' services to the citizens. The AP Broadband Project seeks to provide `triple play' services of Cable TV, Internet and Telephone through a single wire, at an affordable cost of Rs 100 per month, to facilitate the common man. The Broadband Project also aims to connect all Government offices in the State and offer citizen services. The Promoter of Aksh Broadband, Mr RVR. Chowdary, said it would offer free to air channels, Internet (100mb data) and 30 hours of talk time of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phones for Rs 100 per month only. Thus far, the optic fibre cable connectivity has reached in seven districts of Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Mahaboobnagar, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham, Mr Chowdary said.
