New Delhi, July 17
India and France have signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
The MoU will further the commitments made by the two Governments for cooperation in this field during the visit of the French President Jacques Chirac to India in February this year.
The MoU was signed between Dr Ashwani Kumar, Minister of State for Industry of India, and Mr Francois Loos, French Minster of Industry, in Paris on July 15.
During the signing ceremony, Dr Kumar said, "The signing of the MoU is a concrete manifestation of the Government's desire to strengthen international bilateral cooperation in the field of intellectual property and to ensure protection of intellectual property rights of foreign investors and domestic industry." Dr Kumar also invited Mr Loos to visit India to carry forward the relation on bilateral cooperation in this area.
