Horticulture/Fruits & Vegetables States - Andhra Pradesh AP CM wants irrigation equipment tested Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 18 The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the Department of Horticulture to rope in experts from CRIDA and other stakeholder agencies to ascertain the efficacy of micro-irrigation equipment being used by the farmers in the State. "You need to cover each and every farmer using the implements," he told senior officials of the department at a review meeting on Monday. "Look into the problems being faced by the farmers in using the implements and attempt to solve those problems," he said. Stating that the equipment had not yielded desired results, the Chief Minister said 35 per cent of all the micro irrigation equipment registered poor performance. "Up to five per cent of the equipment failed. This is a big lapse," he said.
