NATURE'S FURY: A view of a banana plantation at Betri near Madikeri in Karnataka's Kodagu district that has been devastated by the south-west monsoon. Rains accompanied by gale have wreaked damage in many parts of the district. Farmers in the district had taken to planting banana by converting their paddy fields as returns from the latter were low.
