Airtel has started offering enhanced data rate for GSM evolution (EDGE) enabling its network in the six critical towns of Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kannur. With data transfer speeds of 100-200 kbps, Airtel customers in these towns would experience a totally new dimension in mobile phone usage. Customers in these towns with EDGE enabled handsets would be able to enjoy the richness of multimedia on their handsets. They would be able to use their handsets for live TV applications in addition to live stock tickers, portfolio manager, full track music downloads and shortly multi-player games etc.
