Airlines IndiGo to start flying from Aug 4 Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 31 A new low-cost airline, IndiGo, takes to the skies on August 4 with the first flight on the Delhi-Guwahati-Imphal sector. Addressing a press conference, the airline's Chief Executive Officer and President, Mr Bruce Ashby, said IndiGo would start non-stop daily services between Delhi and Bangalore from August 30 and offer daily flights between Delhi-Hyderabad-Chennai from September 25. "The airline is to induct one brand new Airbus A-320 aircraft every month for the rest of the year. By the end of this calendar year we expect to carry 75,000 passengers on our fleet of six aircraft. By the end of next year we will have a fleet of 15 aircraft. The airline will offer affordable fares," the CEO added. The airline fares on the Delhi-Chennai sector start from Rs 1,299 while on the Chennai-Hyderabad sector the fares start from Rs 999. Similarly, fares on the Delhi-Bangalore sector start at Rs 3,249. The airline has already announced that it would purchase 100 Airbus aircraft over a 10-year period. ``We have got loans from GE Finance and part of the fund will also come from equity,'' the IndiGo co-founder, Mr Rakesh Gangwal, said.
