Mundra (Kutch) , Aug. 2

Gujarat Adani Port Ltd has been rechristened as Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd, its CEO, Captain Sandeep Mehta, said on Wednesday.

The move indicated its free-port status and being the first port-based SEZ, he said at Mundra International Container Terminal, which achieved a monthly performance of 50,000 TEUs in July 2006.

Four multi-purpose berths are being added in 2006 and two container terminals will be operational by mid-2007, according to a release. The privately-owned Port, due to its SEZ status, will be providing bunkering facilities at international price to the vessels at Mundra.
