NHPC pays Rs 223-cr dividend to Govt

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd (NHPC) has paid its highest ever dividend amount of Rs 223 crore to the Centre for the financial year 2005-06.

NHPC , which has already paid an interim dividend amount of Rs 64 crore to the Government in February this year, presented the balance amount of Rs 159 crore to the Centre on Thursday.

The NHPC's Chariman and Managing Director, Mr S. K. Garg, presented a cheque for this amount to the Power Minister, Mr Sushilkumar Shinde. During the financial year 2004-05, NHPC had paid a dividend of Rs 140 crore to the Government.
