Announcements MRPL ships 1st petro product consignment to Mauritius Our Bureau
Mangalore , Aug. 5 Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) delivered its first batch of petroleum products shipment to Mauritius on Saturday. The consignment consisting 4,000 tonnes of motor spirit (95 Octane), 10,000 tonnes of jet fuel (ATF) and 19,000 tonnes of gas oil (diesel), is the first parcel as per the supply contract between MRPL and State Trading Corporation (STC) of Mauritius. At a small function held at the New Mangalore Port, aboard Mt Sanmar Symphony, the vessel on which the products were loaded, Mr Rajamani, Managing Director of MRPL, handed over the citation commemorating the first parcel and the quality certificates of the products to Mr R.S. Soomarooah, General Manager, STC of Mauritius.
Committed approach
Reiterating MRPL's commitment to supply the products to Mauritius as per the agreed quality and on time, Mr Rajamani mentioned about the company's capacity to produce different grades of products to suit specific customer needs. Mr Soomarooah hoped for smooth execution of the contract. MRPL has been exporting its products for the last six years through various traders. However, this is the first time a trade contract is negotiated directly with a refinery and STC of Mauritius to import petroleum into the island nation.
Supply pact
According to the supply agreement, the products are 3.5-lakh tonnes of high-speed diesel, 2.6-lakh tonnes of jet fuel, 90,000 tonnes of motor gasoline and 3.3-lakh tonnes of three grades of fuel oil. This quantity meets the entire white oil and furnace oil demand of Mauritius for one year.
