Kerala Govt hopes to sign pact on Smart City soon

The Kerala Government hopes to sign an agreement with Dubai Internet City (DIC) on the proposed Smart City project in Kochi soon.

Te Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, told newspersons after talks with the DIC team here on Saturday that both the sides highlighted their respective views during the interactions spread over two days. He hoped an agreement could be signed within a month.

He said that the Government would study the proposals made by the DIC team during the talks and send a report to them within a couple of weeks.

Asked whether the project would be in the joint sector, the Chief Minister said that all options were open. Many IT companies had shown interest in setting up shop in Kochi in view of the strategic importance of the city, he added.

Mr Deepak Padmanabhan, Business Development Officer of DIC, said that the talks were cordial and the team would covey the conditions put forward by the Government to the top authorities in Dubai.
