Kochi, Aug 7

Punjab National Bank (PNB) launched a tree plantation programme in co-ordination with Bhavan's Munshi Vidyashram, Thiruvankulam in Ernakulam district on Monday. The bank's Regional Manager, Mr R.S. Pillai, formally inaugurated the programme, which has been launched as part of PNB's social commitment to preserving the environment. Mr Pillai called upon students to encourage tree plantation and to preserve the greenery of the State for which it is reputed. Though at least 33 per cent of the land should be covered with forests, it is much less in reality due to various factors, he added.
