Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has the potential to become a world leader and a technology provider in the field of clean coal technology, the Director (Engineering and R and D), BHEL, Mr Ramji Rai, has said.
Delivering his inaugural address at the two-day workshop on `clean coal technology' at the BHEL here, Mr Ramji Rai said BHEL could also become the nucleus of coal technology research and shape the future of coal technology worldwide.
He said BHEL's growth in the future would be technology-driven. On the strength of its many decades of coal technology research and expertise across the entire spectrum of Indian coals, BHEL could easily emerge as a technology provider in this field by adopting a more proactive approach and by focusing its engineering and R and D efforts towards the development of new product designs and product variants.
Mr Ramji Rai said that this was vital in the context of an increasingly high rate of technological obsolescence that meant that most new technologies were replaced within five years.
