Bangalore , Aug 14

Strides Arcolab has announced that it has received tentative USFDA approval for one of its ANDA filings for AIDS drugs.

Nevirapine, filed for selling as 200 mg tablets, has received approval for its ANDAs (abbreviated new drug application), the Bangalore-based Strides said in a release.

The application was reviewed under the expedited review provisions of the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.

Four more applications are under review for the same programme and four more are to be submitted.

"This approval represents significant opportunity for Strides to commercialise Nevirapine, a key anti-retro viral in the treatment of AIDS," said Mr Arun Kumar, Vice-Chairman and CEO.
