Spices & Condiments Pepper futures move up on buying support G.K. Nair
Kochi , Aug 16 Pepper futures increased on buying interest, with physical market influencing the movement. Markets moved up despite bearish reports. Enquiries are coming from overseas markets. Some business had also taken place at $2,335-2,350 a tonne (c&f), market sources told Business Line. The price trend in other origins indicates that the tight supply position persists in the world market. Lampong ASTA is said to have been offered at $2,400 a tonne while Vietnam ASTA at $2,325 a tonne. Resellers in the US were said to be ready to quote below all other origins except Brazil. Meanwhile, Sarawak (brown label) was being sold at $2,650 a tonne (f.o.b.) to its captive markets such as Japan, Australia and the West Asia.
