Ban on entry of visitors to airports lifted

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Aug. 22

The Government has lifted the ban on visitors entering the airport and will shortly review the ban on carrying liquids on board domestic flights, senior Government officials said here on Tuesday.

In the wake of the foiled plot to blow up aircraft in the UK on August 10, the Government had banned passengers from carrying liquids and gels on board the aircraft. However, baby food items, including milk and juices, were not banned.

Officials, however, refused to speculate on which items would be allowed on board aircraft or by when the ban would be lifted. "After reviewing the overall situation, we have found that the threat perception is slightly lower than what it was earlier. Keeping this in mind, the earlier ban on visitors not being allowed into airports has been lifted," officials said.
