A technical report of the Dam Safety Committee will also be submitted to the court. The Government is exploring all options, including filing of a curative petition, in the court.

Thiruvananthapuram , Aug. 22

An all-party team led by the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, and the Opposition leader, Mr Oommen Chandy, will meet the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi on August 31 and urge him to expedite clearance to the proposed international container transhipment terminal at Vizhinjam, near here.

The Minister for Ports, Law and Youth Affairs, Mr M. Vijayakumar, told newspersons here on Tuesday that already a delegation of Members of Parliament from Kerala already met the Prime Minister on Monday and apprised him of the importance of the project for the State. The delegation included the Union Ministers, Mr E. Ahamed and Mr Vayalar Ravi, and the former Chief Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, and Dr Singh's response was positive, he added.

MULLAPERIYAR

On Mullaperiyar dam, the Minister said that the Government was trying to reopen the case in the Supreme Court in the light of a tremor recorded in the vicinity of the dam a few days back. The Government is exploring all options, including filing of a curative petition, in the court.

A technical report of the Dam Safety Committee will also be submitted to the court. The Government would, meanwhile, hold discussions with the Tamil Nadu Government to find an amicable solution to the issue. Mr Vijayakumar announced that the Government would soon come out with a youth policy and ensure better coordination between the Youth Welfare and Sports departments.

He said that he had already discussed the draft of the proposed youth policy and also the youth welfare strategy with the leaders of various youth organisations.

A meeting of the chiefs of local self-government institutions was held on August 8 to discuss the conduct of `Keralotsavam', he said and added that the competitions organised by the Youth Welfare Board would begin this month.
