New Delhi , Aug. 24 Samsung India is looking at Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu to set up its second manufacturing facility in the country. "We will make a formal announcement of Phase I of the commencement of this unit in September, which will manufacture and produce our entire range of products, including LCDs and Plasma TVs," said Mr R Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India. He declined to give further details about the exact location or the investment to be made in the new plant only hinting at the two States as likely locations. However, he said investment in the second plant would be made by both Samsung India and its parent, Samsung Electronics. The company currently has a manufacturing facility in Noida where it has made an investment of $150 million. The company is eyeing a 20 per cent jump in its sales in 2006 over last year's sales of Rs 6,300 crore. While launching new models in its digital media segment on Thursday, Mr Zutshi said the company would also focus aggressively on exports this year and is working on creating India as its hub for exports to SAARC countries including Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. "Out of the total Rs 6,300 crore worth of sales we reported last year, our exports were only at a mere Rs 100 crore. This year, we are looking at a 50 per cent growth in our exports out of India,'' he said. The company is also aiming to increase its share in the flat panel TV market to 50 per cent by the end of the current year from the existing share of around 45 per cent. In the CTV domain, the company aims to sell 1.8 million units by the year-end against 1.5 million units it sold last year. The company launched new models of digital still cameras, camcorders, MP3 players, DVD players and Plasma TVs on Thursday. The `NV' series of digital still cameras are priced between Rs 8,990 and Rs 49,990, while the Plasma TVs are priced between Rs 99,000 and Rs 7,00,000.
