`Practise precision cotton farming'

Coimbatore , Aug. 25

Cotton farmers should plan their crop cultivation just like the industries design their products suiting to the market, Dr C. Ramasamy, Vice-Chancellor, Tamilnadu Agricultural University (TNAU), said.

Participating in a training programme on intensive cotton cultivation organised at the TNAU's agricultural research station at Bhavanisagar in Erode district recently, the Vice-Chancellor also suggested to the trainees to spread the precision farming practices and drip irrigation systems among the cotton growers as these would enhance plant input usage efficiency and farm income.

A training manual on `agro-technologies for enhancing cotton productivity' was released jointly by Dr T. Karthikeyan, Erode District Collector, and the TNAU Vice-Chancellor.
