Meet on export quality standards

A one-day seminar on "Quality standards and certification requirements for export of agricultural and food products" organised by the Export Import Bank of India and the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held here recently. Inaugurating the function, Mr G. Mohankumar, Chairman, Marine Products Export Development Authority, said quality is a critical issue for the exporters. There are different view pointes on what is quality, what is desirable and what is necessary. The problems faced by the exporters are different countries adopt different quality standards for the same commodity. Efforts are on internationally to evolve a uniform standard for food safety and quality, he said.
