Autodesk to promote software for architects

Debdatta Das

New Delhi , Aug 25

Autodesk Inc, a US-based construction, media and infrastructure software solution provider, is looking to promote its architectural software solution, Business Information Model (BIM), in India and globally.

The software has been created in an attempt to free architects of the tedious process of drawing blueprints on paper.

"The software is all about inputting the data coupled with the parameter requirements for the design. Once the data is fed, the software automatically comes up with a design made to order for the specifications that have been given," said Mr Jay H. Bhatt, Vice-President, Building Solutions Division.

"It is an extremely effective, efficient and accurate software which produces results to precision," he added.

The BIM software also allows architects the flexibility of changing design details without much effort.

It allows builders to environment-friendly buildings without much wastage, as along with designing the software specifies the exact amount of raw material requirement.

Autodesk's mainstay in India is working on architectural outsourcing projects.

Currently, the company is scouting for tie-ups within the country and is learnt to be in talks with a major Delhi-based real estate developer for offering hi-tech solutions.

The BIM software costs Rs 3 lakh for a three-bundle offering and Rs 4 lakh for a five-bundle offering.

The $1.52-billion Autodesk sources 40 per cent of its business from the Americas, 37 per cent from Europe and 23 per cent from the Asia-Pacific region.
