BUT DELICIOUS:Traders busy checking eggs at a wholesale market in Kolkata. The eggs are termed "deshi" as they are produced in West Bengal and cost Re 1 more than the ones imported from other States.

This is because the "deshi" variety is more delicious than the imported ones. As demand for eggs is huge, West Bengal imports significant quantity from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
