To manufacture ReliatraN dry type transformers

Chennai , Sept. 4

Indo Tech Transformers Ltd is set to introduce dry type transformers in the market through a technical and marketing arrangement with E.I. Dupont India Pvt Ltd.

According to a press release from Indo Tech Transformers, the company will use insulation material and wrapped conductor supplied by Dupont for the manufacture of ReliatraN Brand Dry Type VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnated) Transformers.

Mr P.S. Jagdish, Director, Indo Tech, said that Dupont, which will provide the know-how, design, production process and practices, would supply the patented Nomex aramide paper, which provides high thermal and mechanical stability.

The advantage of the dry type transformer compared to the oil-filled type is that exclusive space need not be allocated for it. It is compact and safe and can be set up in the basement or terrace of a building. This adds value in urban areas for the promoters of commercial and residential space, he said.

The company, which raised Rs 51 crore earlier this year through a public issue to fund its expansion programmes, is on its way to implementing the planned projects, which also include the manufacture of dry type transformer.

The ReliatraN will be in the market early in 2007.

A production facility for 220 kand 400-kV transformers near Kanchipuram to the west of Chennai is to be completed in 6-7 months.

The new plant at Thirumazhisai, a suburb to the west, is ready, Mr Jagdish said.
