New Projects Spain co keen on nuclear power plant in Orissa Our Bureau
Bhubaneswar , Sept. 9 A new generation nuclear power plant developer from Spain, Cala Casa SL has expressed interest to install a nuclear power plant in Orissa in collaboration with the State Government. In a letter addressed to the State Government's Energy Department, the company said it was interested to install a minimum of 2-MW nuclear power plant on build, own and operate basis. The capacity is to be increased at a later stage in the range of 40 MW, 60 MW, 80 MW and 100 MW. The company, which has authorised a Bhubaneswar-based firm, Global Link (P) Ltd, to negotiate the deal, has said in its Expression of Interest that the minimum contract should be for 20 to 25 years. It said that it will invest 80 per cent in the project and the rest will be borne by the State Government.
Plant requirements
A minimum of 10 acres of land will be required for setting up the project. The company said unit energy cost of nuclear power was comparable to power from coal at locations away from coal pits.
