Internet Industry & Economy - Consulting `ERA wants to be like Nasscom' Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Sept. 17 The Chairman of Executive Recruiters Association (ERA), Mr T. Sreedhar, said that job portals are worried about recruiters and do not want to offer access to members of recruitment companies. This is a matter for concern in an environment where everybody is using the electronic medium for job search and prospects. Speaking at the inaugural session of National Conference of ERA here , Mr Sreedhar said that the recruiter agency aspires to be something like the Nasscom for the IT industry. With a member base of over 108 companies across five chapters, the industry, mostly privately held, is estimated at about Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 crore.
Working as team
"Mergers and consolidation have become common in the recruitment agencies, and we have now embarked on the process to expand and grow through partnership and collaboration with the likes of REC, UK, and ASA:ITAA," he said. The industry now employs about 1,00,000 people and is seeking to enhance skills of those working in the industry. It is in the process of developing a specialised course for recruiters, which will have faculty from member companies. The effort his now directed to work as a team rather than competing with one another. As the recruitment process is cutting across Indian shores, this year's theme is on BRIC Countries and Europe. Last year, the meeting was on optimising cost per hire.
