Visakhapatnam, Sept. 17

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) has taken up modernisation project at a cost of Rs 400 crore and it is to be completed in two or three years, according to Rear-Admiral (retd) T.S. Ganeshan. Rear-Admiral Ganeshan, who was here recently to hand over the patrol vessel, INS Baratang, to the Navy, said in an interview that the project would help GRSE to meet the requirements of the Navy better.

The modernisation project would enhance productivity. Modular workshops would be set up and the slipways would be upgraded by installation of 3,000-tonne displacement ship lift and transportation system.
