Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 17

BBC World Service Trust, in association with the Energy and Resources Institute, is conducting a seminar on `deforestation in Kerala' in the city on Monday.

The State Forests Minister, Mr Benoy Viswam, is scheduled to inaugurate the event, which is to be held at the South Park hotel in the city. The Minister will be presented with a background paper on `deforestation in Kerala'.

The seminar is being held as part of a two-year, nine-State training project funded by the EU-India Economic Cross Cultural Programme and aims to develop media capacities to cover environmental issues, says a press release issued by the BBC World Service Trust.
