Trade & Labour Unions Industry & Economy - Petroleum States - Maharashtra Petrol pump dealers' strike in Maharashtra called off Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 19 Petrol pumps dealers in Maharashtra called off their indefinite strike on Tuesday morning, following an assurance from the Ministry of Petroleum that their demand would be favourably considered. The dealers, led by the Federation of All Maharashtra Petrol Dealers' Association, had gone on strike and closed petrol pumps since Sunday midnight, seeking reduction in sales tax on auto fuel. Mr Ravi Shinde, President of the association, speaking to Business Line from New Delhi, confirmed that the strike has been called off all over the State, adding that petrol pumps would immediately resume operations. Mr Ratan Panda, State Co-ordinator for Oil Industry, Maharashtra, said that all the petrol pumps in the State resumed operations from 1.00 pm, after the strike was called off. The State has a network of 2,774 petrol pumps.
