The Hindu Business Line : Sugar stocks: Active on price hike buzz

Sugar stocks such as Dhampur Sugar, Balrampur Chini, Bajaj Hindusthan, Upper Ganges, Simbhaoli Sugars and Rana Sugars, witnessed surge in volumes on Tuesday.

Market talk has it that these companies might announce price hike in the region of 5-8 per cent for 100 kg. In fact, Rana Sugars on Tuesday hiked the price by 5 per cent.

Festive season, during which the price generally goes up due to higher consumption, is also cited as a reason for the stocks to turn active. These counters finished weak on Tuesday albeit marginally.
