New Delhi , Sept. 20 The Centre has made it mandatory for wheat importers to declare the particulars of the consignments imported by them within seven days from the date of receipt of stocks. According to the Import of Wheat (Stock Declaration) Order, 2006, notified by the Department of Food and Public Distribution and effective from Tuesday, every importer of wheat would have to submit a return by the 10th of every month on the stocks imported, released and retained by him to the Centre and State Governments.
At every port
It also provides for submission of returns to the Centre by the Deputy Commissioners of Customs at every port on receipt of any cargo containing what imported into the country. The Order does not, however, apply to any wheat imported by or on behalf of the Food Corporation of India, an official release said here.
