Spot rubber slips on sales

Aravindan

Kottayam , Sept. 23

Rubber prices slipped further as selling continued Saturday. According to sources, rumours that the market might seek further lows in the days ahead led to increased sales. Traders were not ready to build stocks since the fall below the long-term support at Rs 80 level indicated technical weakness.

Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 79 and Rs 78.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 79.50 a kg on Friday.

The rubber futures closed weak on NMCE. The October contract closed at Rs 76.22 (Rs 76.51), November at Rs 74.16 (Rs 75.11), December at Rs 74.48 (Rs 75.31) and January contract at Rs 76.83 (Rs 77.79) per kg for RSS 4.

Prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 79 (Rs 79.50); RSS-5: Rs 77.50 (Rs 78); ungraded: Rs 76 (Rs 76); ISNR 20: Rs 77 (Rs 77) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 61.55 (Rs 61.55).
