Kolkata , Sept. 24

Everonn Systems India Ltd, the education and learning solutions company, has signed a 6-year agreement with the Department of School Education, West Bengal, to set up IT infrastructure and impart IT education in as many as 555 schools in three districts of the State. The districts are West Midnapore, East Midnapore and Purulia.

Talking to Business Line here recently, Mr R. Kannan, Director, Everonn Systems, said as per the agreement, the company will be responsible for putting up the infrastructure and imparting education, where a minimum of 200 students per school are expected to enrol for the IT programme.

Employment opportunities

He said the project, besides extending computer education to students, will also create employment opportunities locally, as they would be recruiting qualified teaching staff from within the State.

Implemented for students between Class 6 and Class 12, the schools will provide the space required for creating the infrastructure and Everonn will be responsible for procurement and installation of necessary IT infrastructure across all schools, he pointed out. He said the programme has been extended to some 9 States involving a total universe of 1,600 schools across the country.

Mr Kannan said the company will operate under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model, and offer a turnkey solution with a full range of services like setting up of computer labs, designing of curriculum and course material, teaching services and automation of school administration systems.

New investments

India China Pre IPO Equity (Mauritius) Ltd, an investment arm of Temasek, Singapore's ST Asset Management Group, has recently invested Rs 14.06 cr in Everonn Systems, Mr Kannan said.

He informed that Everonn has also filed a draft red herring prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for its proposed IPO of Rs 50 crore. He described Everonn as a fully integrated knowledge management, education and learning solutions company, with two distinct revenue streams.

The first is through institutional education, wherein IT education and computer-aided content is offered alongwith infrastructure in schools and colleges. And the second one, virtual and technology-enabled learning solutions, offers curriculum and job-oriented courses to colleges and schools under the company's own "Zebra Kross" brand.

Mr Kannan said Everonn enjoyed lead partner status with HughesNet Global Communications Ltd in bringing management education from premier business schools, offered under the brand name "Direcway Global Education".
