17.5 pc bonus for port, dock employees

About 66,000 port and dock employees are expected to be benefited by the payment of productivity-linked reward.

New Delhi , Sept. 27

The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Mr T.R. Baalu, has announced a bonus of 17.5 per cent of the annual wages for the port and dock employees.

About 66,000 port and dock employees including officers are expected to be benefited by the payment of productivity-linked reward.

An official release stated that the Minister has "allowed the release of productivity linked reward at the rate of 17.5 per cent of the annual wage/salary to each port and dock employee on ad-hoc basis." Mr Baalu met the leaders of five major federations of port and dockworkers here on Wednesday.
