New Delhi , Sept. 27

The Railway Ministry is in the process of registering the company for the dedicated freight corridor — Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd.

"Since the applications can be made online now in the Ministry of Company Affairs, we hope to be through with the registration process by October end," said an official adding that while the RITES detailed final location survey would be over by December, the corporation would then start inviting tenders for the ground work, signalling and electrification of tracks.

For the freight corridor, the Railways may involve private sector based on the performance-based deferred payment mechanism. Thus, private sector would be paid back its returns on investment spread of over 20-30 years.
