RISING EXPORTS: A worker drying ginger on a field near Palakkad, Kerala. Availability of superior quality ginger at competitive price has pushed up its exports considerably during the current fiscal. Currently, ginger is ruling around Rs 70 a kg, whereas the landed cost of imported one comes to Rs 82 a kg. Exports increased to 3,000 tonnes valued at Rs 13.55 crore during April-July against 1,687 tonnes worth Rs 10.69 crore during the same period a year ago.
