Rubber Rubber recovers, tops Rs 80 Aravindan
Kottayam , Oct. 6 Strengthening international markets and incessant rains all over the plantations triggered a sharp bull run in domestic spot rubber on Friday. Moderate demand from the tyre sector and non-tyre sector lifted the prices and covering groups turned extremely aggressive, sources said. Sheet rubber crossed the psychological resistance of Rs 80 to finish at Rs 81.50 (Rs 79.50) a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi. Rumours on fatal fevers transmitted by mosquitoes are expected to affect latex production as tapers refuse to work in certain rubber plantations where the presence of the insects is very high during the rainy season.

The futures market moved up adding further gains in all contracts on NMCE. The October contract was quoted at Rs 84.05 (Rs 83.66), November at Rs 83.25 (Rs 81.58), December at Rs 83.58 (Rs 82.49) and January contract at Rs 84.50 (Rs 83.45) per kg for RSS 4. Physical rubber prices per kg were: RSS-4: Rs 81.50 (Rs 79.50); RSS-5: Rs 80.50 (Rs 78.50); Ungraded: Rs 79.00 (Rs 77.00); ISNR 20: Rs 79.50 (Rs 77.50) and Latex 60 per cent: Rs 61.05 (Rs 61.05).
