Software Weston plans engg design centre Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Oct. 6 Weston Solutions India, a fully owned subsidiary of Weston Solutions Inc, has announced the move to set up an environmental consulting and engineering design services centre. The US-based company with revenues of $475 million employs about 1,800 people back home and is set to make Hyderabad its design centre, wherein it plans to invest up to $1 million (about Rs 4.5 crore). The Chairman and President of Weston Solutions, Mr Patrick McCann, said Western India centre is aimed at servicing some of the company's strategic clients in the areas of manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas and construction segments. This would pave the way for consulting services in the environmental services space. Western India provides CAD (computer aided design) based drafting services for the parent. The company plans to raise its headcount to 150. The President, Weston Solutions India, Mr Ram Pratti, told newspersons that "given the response to IT and GIS services in India, we are launching environmental consulting and engineering design services to serve the local industry and the Government and the region." "Last fiscal, the company bagged a major order after the hurricane Katrina hit the US coast. The engineering and design services were valued at about $100 million. Though the region accounts for a smaller share now, we expect to grow this business here," Mr McCann said.
