Housing facilities for poor women

Syndicate Bank, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation and the Uttara Kannada-based Kadamba Charitable Trust have come forward to provide housing facilities to nearly 1,000 poor women in Uttara Kannada district. A release from the trust said on Wednesday that an agreement to take up the project at a cost of Rs 3 crore was signed recently. The project will be taken up under the `Synd Kutira' programme of Syndicate Bank. The release said that 1,203 poor people have already benefited from a similar project. Under this, the beneficiaries were given a loan of Rs 20,000 each and a subsidy of Rs 10,000 each. Enthused by the success of this project, these organisations have come forward to provide housing facilities to poor women, it said.
