Oil India Ltd (OIL) has paid for the year 2005-06 a total dividend Rs 556.5 crore being 265 per cent of the paid up capital of Rs 210 crore held by the President of India to the Government.

According to an official release, OIL has paid an amount of Rs 168 crore to the Government, as the final dividend at 80 per cent for 2005-2006. The company had earlier paid first interim dividend at 110 per cent amounting to Rs 231 crore and a second interim dividend of 75 per cent amounting to Rs 157.5 crore during the year. The company had paid a total dividend at 160 per cent amounting to Rs 336 crore to the Government for 2004-05.
