McLeod Russel net up 77 pc

High tea auction prices in the last few months have bolstered the profitability of McLeod Russel India Ltd, a BM Khaitan Group company and the world's largest bulk tea producer. According to the results announced by the company, net profit in the second quarter of 2006-07 has increased by 77 per cent compared to the corresponding quarter of 2005-06. It went up to Rs 100.14 crore from Rs 56.45 crore. Total sales registered a growth of 21 per cent as it jumped to Rs 172.08 crore from Rs 142.60 crore. Earnings per share increased to Rs 10.17 from Rs 5.74. Profit before tax increased to Rs 100.34 crore from Rs 56.73 crore.
