Strategy Info-Tech - Telecommunications Now SMS can be converted into MMS V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , Oct. 29 Every new mobile application adds to the novelty and ease of communication. Here is one such innovation, which could potentially be the next big `killer mobile application' that converts simple word SMS into multimedia messaging service. The potential is such that this could spread like virus as they say and cut into a big chunk of the $50 billion global SMS market, according to the Managing Director of Roamware, Mr Manoj Pant. Often people find inputing multimedia messages on to their handsets difficult as they first have to type the message, add video clips or even sound bytes. This puts them off from sending multimedia messages. A technology developed by Roamware helps convert a simple word SMS into a colour SMS even without the sender having a colour phone. The word text message is picked up at the server and with the intelligence built in there, it can pick up necessary video clips, additional images or even add audio bytes intuitively from the huge library built into it. So when you send a message like say, `Happy married life', this could add a nice ring tone or a song and also feature a couple driving in a car. And a `Happy Birthday' message couldgo with a bouquet and a song along.
